南韓中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒（MERS-CoV）疫情擴散，三星首爾醫院因管理不善成為眾矢之的，三星集團副董事長李在鎔23日在首爾瑞草區的公司總部召開記者會，首度對此鞠躬道歉。
南韓保健福祉部同日通報，MERS死亡人數無新增，但仍新增3起確診病例，感染總人數達到175人，其中逾80例是在三星首爾醫院內感染，因此該院被指責是疫情「第二大源頭」。
李在鎔表示：「三星首爾醫院未能控制感染與病毒擴散，造成社會很大紛擾與不安，我在此鞠躬致歉。」對於因MERS不幸身亡的患者和其家屬、治療中的確診患者和隔離者，他也深表歉意。
李在鎔還說：「我的父親也在（三星首爾醫院）躺了1年以上，我能夠體會病患及家屬感受到的不便」，並稱「疫情結束後，會對醫院進行改革，增加負壓隔離病房數，積極支援疫苗和治療藥物的開發」。
